The opportunity of experimental research in the field of ionanofluids arose as a result of the high needs to improve heat transfer in various industrial applications, by creating and characterizing new heat transfer fluids. The project is based on a new concept (ionanofluid) and is intended for the design and complete characterization of new classes of ionanofluids, based on ionic liquid 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate. Then, different nanoparticles will be added, in different mass concentrations (maximum 5 % wt). The main goal of the project is the development of new and cheaper ionanofluids and the study of their thermophysical properties, as well as the numerical estimation of their behavior in a specific thermal application (heat exchanger), thus realizing a complex study of new heat transfer fluids based on ionic liquid, by adding nanoparticles. The main objective of the project proposal is to design a new fluid (ionanofluid), energy efficient, with applications in heat exchange operations with high heat transfer performance, compared to conventional liquids. More precisely, the concrete objectives of the project are:
- Design of more economically and thermally efficient ionanofluids, using nanoparticles with low impact on the environment
- Experimental, coordinated study of the thermophysical and electrical properties of the new created fluids.
- Development of equations for estimating the properties of the new created fluids.
- Numerical study of the use of ionanofluids in thermal applications.
